Aims & Objectives

When Patricia Fay first founded the Chiltern Antiques Group the objectives were quite straightforward - ‘To enhance the appreciation of our heritage, both in museums, galleries and private houses and eventually to teach us how to look after our own antiques and objets d’art.’  It provided the opportunity  to study the Decorative Arts not hitherto available outside London.

The aims and objectives of CDFAS have expanded on this original concept and can be described thus:

1. To enhance the appreciation and understanding of our heritage by providing stimulating lectures, visits and study days on a full range of topics concerning the fine and decorative arts in all their forms.
   
   
2. To help conserve our heritage by providing volunteers to
   1. care for collections,
      
   2. record documents
      
   3. act as guides and stewards at museums, National Trust properties, historic houses, libraries and gardens....more
      
      
3. To compile detailed records of the internal furnishings and some fabric of local churches and other places of worship....more
   
   
4. To encourage young people in the understanding and development of art....more
   
   And most importantly
   
   
5. To have fun doing it all.
